I am looking for a good location to test our new AT gear this week - one with low avi risk (I am scheduled for AST training on the weekend, and am a very experienced skier). Would this be a good location? Any recommendations in K country or Banff?

Yes this would be a good location with lower avi risk on the low angle terrain below treeline. Maybe an even better one would be Bow Summit just across the highway. It is more trafficked and the site for many AST1 courses. In kcountry if you are just looking to test out your new gear I would suggest Chester Lake. There won't be much downhill there but it is a nice trail into the lake where you can learn your gear on the uphill.

Thanks!
We ended up at Chester Lake - which is indeed a perfect spot for first timers. Its very low angle, all in the trees.
